In the agreement that was signed at FINCA headquarters in Dar es Salaam, FINCA is set in providing the football club with an assortment of sport gears as well as financing the team’s transport together with other logical requirements throughout the contract period.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Nicholous John, Marketing Manager, said that the sponsorship re-affirmed the bank’s corporate policy commitment to support young entrepreneurs by ensuring that they grow to become successful individuals in the financial sector and the community at large.

“FINCA believes in bolstering the economic potential of the community, especially the youth; this is why, we readily agreed to boost the efforts of these youngsters after realizing that they had the potential to go far as far as sports is concerned”, Nicholousstated, adding that they had decided to incorporate entrepreneurial culture in sports.

The Ilala-based Dar City FC, which has qualified for next year’s FA Cup Championships, is soon scheduled to travel to Kahama, Shinyanga Region where it will join 7 other teams in competing in the country’s Regional Champions’ League.

The President of Dar City Football Club, Azimkhan Akber Azimkhan thanked FINCA for the generous support, saying that it was timely, coming at a time when the club was facing financial challenges.

“We are profusely grateful to FINCA Microfinance Bank for this well-timed shot in the arm; we are now confident that we will perform well in the tournament as the sponsorship will greatly boost our team’s morale and motivation to work harder”, explained Azimkhan.

He explained that the preparations for such tournaments involved numerous requirements and challenged other companies, individuals and organizations to support underdogs clubs to help them realize their potential.

On his part, the Chairman of Dar es Salaam Football Association (DFA), Almasi Kasongo, while thanking FINCA for the sponsorship, called on other financial institutions to emulate FINCA’s lavish gesture by supporting more clubs in the City.
